Terms & conditions
The price for the order shall be as stated on your invoice. You agree to pay the full price to The Local Bakehouse in accordance with the invoice after the details are checked and agreed by you.
Please note that all deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Whilst every effort will be made to ensure you get the date and time you would like for your cake to be delivered, this cannot be guaranteed, and payment for a cake tasting does not automatically ensure part-payment for a wedding cake.
Payment for cakes
Payment may be made without charge by using Direct Bank/Building Society Transfer and you will be given bank details with your order.
Charged forms of payment for cakes
If you would prefer to pay by PayPal or cheque then please inform us when you place your order. PayPal orders will incur a 3.4% + 20p surcharge and a £1 bank charge for all cheques will be applied. The cheque will need to clear before your order can be confirmed.
Alterations to Orders
Your cake/course is very important to us. Please take the time to check your order form carefully and let us know before you make payment if changes are needed. Whilst every effort will be made to assist Customers, please note that late changes cannot always be guaranteed.
As your order is made especially for you, the following conditions are implemented when a wedding cake order is cancelled:
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost will be payable when placing your order.
12 weeks from delivery date – 75% of the total cost will be payable.
6 weeks from delivery date – 100% of the total cost will be payable.
For all other cakes and courses, 100% of the cost will be payable when you place your order and this is non-refundable.
Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in your cake order being cancelled and no refunds will be given.
Any negative reviews or references about The Local Bakehouse given by the Customer in either the media or social media will immediately forfeit any option for a refund.
If you are unhappy with your order and wish to raise a dispute, please contact The Local Bakehouse immediately. We will do our best to find out what has happened. Please note all complaints must be made within 7 days of receipt of the cake/completing the course or the complaint will not be accepted.
The taste or colour of a cake needs to be agreed at a cake tasting prior to the cake being made. It is the Customer's responsibility to have tasted the exact flavours/colours they wish for. The Local Bakehouse does not accept responsibility for the taste of a cake if the Customer has not had a cake tasting. Payment for a cake confirms the Customer is happy with the cake flavour(s) designated.
The Local Bakehouse assumes the cake you have ordered is to be eaten on the day of collection/delivery. The Local Bakehouse accepts no responsibility for the taste of a cake 24 hours after it has been collected/delivered. It is the Customer's responsibility to ensure the cake is kept in an appropriate manner to ensure its taste and welfare.
Cake setup at wedding venues
The utmost care is taken when setting up a wedding cake. Photographs of cakes will be taken from a variety of angles before leaving a venue. We do not accept responsibility for cakes that have been damaged afterwards. The Customer is responsible for ensuring the venue has taken appropriate measures to ensure the cake’s safety. This includes temperature, positioning, lighting and so forth. Any refunds given are completely at the discretion of The Local Bakehouse and are dependent on the customer observing our policy about media, including social media.
For all cakes collected from The Local Bakehouse, the Customer accepts they will check the cake. Once the cake has left the building or been delivered to the Customer's destination it is agreed the cake design is as specified and the cake is in good condition.
It may be possible to have your cake delivered provided it is within the Bristol area. Alternatively, cakes can be collected from The Local Bakehouse by prior arrangement. Should you require the cake to be delivered outside the Bristol area, separate arrangements will be made. All delivery times are subject to availability. If you have a specific delivery date and time please specify this when placing your order. We will do our best to accommodate requirements.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure you have given us the correct delivery information and that someone is available to receive your cake. A signature will be required upon receipt of delivery confirming that the order has been received in good condition and as specified.
If the recipient is not in, the order will be returned to The Local Bakehouse who will contact you to arrange an alternative delivery time for which an additional charge will be required by the customer. The Local Bakehouse accepts no responsibility for any loss or consequential loss incurred by the Customer as a result – e.g. a wedding without a wedding cake.
Cake stand hire
If you choose to hire a cake stand from The Local Bakehouse, a refundable deposit will be included on the invoice. As long as the cake stand and its box are returned in good condition, the deposit will be refunded.
Penalties & charges
There is a £20 per day charge for any hired items that are not returned to The Local Bakehouse by the required hire date of return.
